Ozzie Virgil had 5 hits and 3 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies outscored the San Diego Padres 10 to 2. 

Virgil was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He ripped a single in the 2nd inning, lined a one-base hit in the 4th inning, delivered a base-hit knocking in a run in the 6th inning, doubled which plated a run in the 7th inning and tripled which scored a run in the 9th inning. Philadelphia ended up with 16 hits for the game while San Diego had 8. 

Shane Rawley(11-15) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Mark Thurmond(9-5) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 7 hits in 5 innings.
