September 8, 1985: Phillies (59-77) at Padres (72-65)

The Philadelphia Phillies offense put up 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 7th inning and had very little trouble at JACK MURPHY STADIUM downing the San Diego Padres. The score was 10 to 3.

Juan Samuel was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled in the 1st inning, hit a single which scored a run in the 2nd inning and lofted a three-run bomb in the 4th inning. Philadelphia totaled 15 hits on the afternoon.

The victory went to Charles Hudson(7-11) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 3 runs. Lamarr Hoyt(13-15) was given the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 9 hits in 5 innings.
