Dave Stewart(5-7) came through for Bobby Valentine with an excellent relief stint. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and no walks in 3 and 2/3 innings and mowed down 5 California batters. Greg Harris came throught with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 33rd save.
Mike Witt(8-14) was charged with the loss. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits and 3 walks.
