In a two run game the Houston Astros offense put up 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 6th inning and got by the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 6 to 4. 

Houston tallied 4 runs in the 6th inning when they had 4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Kevin Bass who silenced DODGER STADIUM as he laced a base-knock bringing in two baserunners. Los Angeles threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. 

Joe Niekro(11-16) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 4 runs. Jeff Heathcock got the save, his 2nd. The losing pitcher was Jerry Reuss(13-12).
