The Cleveland Indians put 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 6th inning and bested the Oakland Athletics by a 8 to 4 score at OAKLAND COLISEUM. 

Cleveland had 5 runs cross the plate in the 6th inning with the help of 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Joe Carter who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he ripped a base-knock scoring two baserunners. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. 

Don Schulze(8-16) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Bill Krueger(8-11) absorbed the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 5 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.
