September 24, 1985: Indians (55-98) at A's (66-85)

In a lop-sided win the Oakland Athletics ripped the hapless Cleveland Indians by a 8 to 3 count.

In the bottom of the 5th inning Oakland scored 6 runs when they had 6 base hits. The key at-bat was by Dave Kingman who brought the crowd to their feet when he popped a two-run clout over the fence. For the game Oakland out-hit Cleveland 12 to 7.

The win was credited to Tommy John(2-4) who went 5 innings allowing 3 runs. John got help from Tim Birtsas who was credited with his 1st save. Roy Smith(1-6) was the loser. Oakland knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 4 innings.
