October 2, 1985: Pirates (70-88) at Cubs (80-79)

Ray Fontenot pitched 8 strong innings at WRIGLEY FIELD where the Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 3 to 2. 

Chicago jumped on top of Pittsburgh in the bottom of the 4th inning plating an isolated run on 3 hits. Pittsburgh made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. 

Fontenot(9-16) went 8 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Fontenot got relief help from Lee Smith who gained credit for his 38th save. The losing pitcher was Lee Tunnell(3-13). He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 8 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
