October 2, 1985: Reds (84-78) at Padres (83-75)

In a good matchup it was the San Diego Padres 3, the Cincinnati Reds 1 at JACK MURPHY STADIUM. 

San Diego erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2 runs utilizing 4 base hits. Tim Flannery led off and got things going when he doubled. Miguel Dilone came next and he banged out a single. After an out was recorded, Graig Nettles then doubled scoring a single run. Terry Kennedy dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Kevin McReynolds stepped into the box and slapped a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 7th inning. 

The victory was credited to Dave Dravecky(14-12) who went 8 innings, allowing 1 run. Goose Gossage preserved the game for Dravecky, recording his his 33rd save. Tom Hume(3-3) suffered the loss in relief.
