Wade Boggs had 2 base hits at MEMORIAL STADIUM as the Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles by the count of 2 to 1. 

Boston scored 1 run in the top of the 5th inning when they came up with 4 base hits. That run would be the difference in the contest. Boston had 11 hits for the game and Baltimore had 6. 

The victory went to Bruce Hurst(14-12) who went 8 innings, allowing 1 run. Bob Stanley got the save, his 38th. Mike Boddicker(4-15) was given the loss.
