At WRIGLEY FIELD the Chicago Cubs easily handled the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 7 to 3. 

Chicago came up with 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning with the help of 4 hits. That early scoring held up. Both teams totaled 10 hits on the afternoon. 

Dennis Eckersley(20-9) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Charles Hudson(8-12) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around by Chicago, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
