The California Angels defeated the Kansas City Royals by a score of 6 to 3 at ROYALS STADIUM. 

In the top of the 3rd inning California scored 2 runs when they had 3 base hits. They ended up being the winning runs. California took care of Kansas City with no trouble in the bottom of the 9th. 

Jim Slaton(10-17) allowed 3 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Stu Cliburn got the save, his 5th. Bud Black(15-11) was the loser. He was knocked around by California, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
