September 4, 1985: Mets (86-47) at Padres (71-63)

Keith Hernandez had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the New York Mets bested the San Diego Padres 6 to 1 at JACK MURPHY STADIUM. 

The deciding run was scored by New York in the top of the 8th. After an out was recorded, Mookie Wilson banged out a single. One out later, Hernandez stepped in and he tripled scoring the run. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. 

The victory was credited to Ed Lynch(18-6) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run. Lynch got help from Jesse Orosco who earned his 13th save. The loss was charged to Andy Hawkins(12-11). He allowed 2 runs and 5 hits in 8 innings.
