September 17, 1985: Dodgers (88-57) at Padres (76-68)

Fernando Valenzuela dominated striking out 10 San Diego batters as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 6 to 5 at JACK MURPHY STADIUM. 

Valenzuela(16-9) gave a fine effort for Los Angeles. He went 8 innings allowing 8 hits and 4 walks. San Diego made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. 

Tom Niedenfuer was credited with his 23rd save. Andy Hawkins(12-12) took the loss.
