Esasky provided much of the offense. He lofted a three-run homer in the 4th inning, ripped a single in the 6th inning and ripped a base-knock knocking in a run in the 8th inning. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was still not enough for Atlanta to come away with the victory.
Jay Tibbs(12-16) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 6 innings. Tom Hume preserved the game for Tibbs, recording his his 3rd save. Len Barker(5-17) was tagged with the loss. He was unable to control the Cincinnati offense and allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings.
