Junior Ortiz collected 2 extra-base hits and had 2 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 8 to 3 at Shibe Park. 

Pittsburgh jumped on top of Philadelphia in the top of the 4th inning when they tallied 3 runs on 3 hits. Pittsburgh had 9 hits overall, while Philadelphia had 5. 

Jose Deleon(11-18) got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Jim Winn got the save, his 1st. The loss was charged to Charles Hudson(8-13). He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.
