April 10, 1985 Game 20: Indians at Tigers

The Tigers looked to rebound in todays game as the Champs were upended by an Indians team that is not expected to be a factor this season. The Tigers would put Dan Petry on the bump and the Indians would start Vern Ruhle. The Tigers would score 1 in the 1st thanks to a clutch 2-out Single by Johnny Grubb that would score Lou Whitaker. The pitchers would shut down each teams offense until the 6th when the Indians would finally get to Petry. Brett Butler would open the inning with a Triple and he would score on a Julio Franco Single. Franco would later score on a bases loaded Single by Joe Carter. Giving the Indians a 2-1 lead. The Indians would score 1 more when Pat Tabler would Double home Mell Hall. The Tigers tie the game up in the bottom of the 8th when Johnny Grubb would hit a 2-run homer off of Ruhle. The Tigers would end the game in the bottom of the 9th When Alan Trammell would Single with 2 outs and Kirk Gibson would take a Tom Waddell pitch and deposit it into the upper deck in right field. Giving the Tigers a 5-3 win. The Final Score 5-3 Tigers
