April 13, 1985 Game 42: Padres (2-1) at Braves (1-2)

History was almost made today at Fulton County Stadium. Mark Thurmaond had a no-hitter through 6 only to implode in the 7th. Steve Bedrosian pitched for the Braves.

The Padres would open up the scoring in the 4th with back to back homers by Bochy and Nettles (1st for both and it was 2-0 Padres. They would get 1 more in the 5th with runners on 1st and 2nd Gwynn would single scoring Thurmond and the score was now 3-0 Padres.

Thurmond pitched 6 innings of no-hit ball but get hit hard in the 7th and is taken out after giving up 2 runs and would be taken out with runners on 1st and 3rd. Dravecky would take over and pitch 4 solid innings before losing the game.

The Braves would answer back in the 7th by scoring 3 after being no-hit for 6 innings. Horner would double scoring Komminski. Chambliss would single scoring Murphy, then a Benedict SAC FLY to McReynolds would score Horner. Tying the gane at 3. They would take the game in the 11th when Horner would single scoring Komminski.

The Braves bullpen would pitch 5 innings of 3 hit ball to help get the win. Horners first 2 RBI of the seaon would spark the win.
