April 14, 1985 Game 59: Phillies 3-1 at Astros (1-4)

It was suppose to be a real treat at the Astrodome and only 15,277 would show up to see to potential hall of famers. Steve Carlton would pitch for the Phillies and Astros would send Nolan Ryan for the Astros. Carlton looked like a hall of famer and Ryan would surrender a couple of long balls that would end his day early.

The Phillies would get going in the 3rd a Foley 3 run HR puts the Phillies up 3-0. They would get another 3 run HR in the 5th off of Ryan this time Hayes would take Ryan deep. to make it 6-1.
The Astros lone tun would come in the 4th on a Doran single that would score Mumphrey. THe Phillies would add 3 more in the 7th. Corcoran would single scoring Hayes, Ryan would be pulled for DiPino. Virgil would single scoring Schmidt and a Wilson double would score Corcoran and it is now 9-1 Phillies.

The Final line on Ryan was 6.1 IP, 9 R, 10 H, 2 BB, and 9 K's.

Carlton would get the complete game win and looked like he had fully recovered from the blister on his finger that kept him from starting the opener.
