April 16, 1985 Game 80: Red Sox (3-3) at Royals (4-2)

The Red Sox are trying to get over .500 and the Royals are looking to keep their winning ways going.  Roger Clemens would get the nod for the Red Sox and Danny Jackson for the Royals.  George Brett returns for the the Royals after missing 4 games due to injury.

In the 2nd Armas would leadoff with a double, a Buckner single and Armas would hold at 3rd.  Gedman would bounce into a 3-6-3 double play and Armas would score. 1-0 Red Sox.

In the 7th Easler would leadoff with a walk, Armas would single and Easler would hold at 2nd.  Buckner would then hit a sharp ground ball to White and he would start a 4-6-3 double play and Easler would advance to 3rd.  Gedman would then double scoring Easler and its 2-0 Red Sox.

Clemens is cruising through 8.  In the 9th Brett would lace a 1 out single to right.  Orta would single and Brett will hold at 2nd.  Motley would hit a screaming line drive right at Guiterrez.  With 2-out Balboni would come up and hit a shot of Clemens that hasn't landed yet and that would end the game.
