April 16, 1985 Game 83: Mets (3-3) at Pirates (4-2)

The Pirates took the first game of this 3 game set and were poised to take the second. Jose DeLeon tossed a shutout in his first startof the year was looking to build off of that. Ron Darling struggled in his first start and was hoping to rebound.

The Pirates would get a run in the first. DArling would walk Ray to start the game. A Morrison single would advance Ray to 3rd. Thompson would then hit a SACFLY to Strawberry and that would score Ray. At the end of 1 it is 1-0 Pirates.

THat would be the only scoring of the game, DeLeon was virtually unhittable as he would only give up 3 hits all game. He would walk 3 and strikeout 7. Darling was brilliant as well as he only surrendered 2 hits and 3 walks. The Pirates were able to capitalize on an early mistake and get that lone run. Darling would also Strikeout 6. This would be DeLeon's 2nd shutout of the season in as many starts.
