April 15,1985 Game 109: Giants (5-3) at Reds (5-4)

The Giants and Reds were locked in a pitchers dual today and if you like that sort of thing, like I do. Then this was the game for you. The Giants would send the aging Vida Blue to the mound and the Reds would counter with John Stuper.

The Giants get a lone run in the 5th when Green hits a Stuper fastball over the leftfield wall for a solo homer his 1st of the season. The Reds would tie it up in the 6th when Davis singles and steals 2nd. Bell singles to left and Davis races to home, Leonard fires a dart from left to Brenly at the plate and Davis is out. Parker is walked and Milner singles to load the bases. Esasky comes up and hits a SACFLY to Leonard and that scores Bell and the score is now 1-1

Green will give the Giants the for good in the 7th with his second homer of the game. Green came in to the game going 1-20 and gets more hits today then he had in his previous 6 games.

The Giants pitchers also struck out 13 batters today. Garrelts was the story of this group as he struck out 5 in 2.1 IP.

The Final Score 2-1 Giants
