April 19, 1985 Game 110: Royals (4-4) at Tigers (5-2)

This was a rematch of last seasons ALCS. The Royals were looking for a little payback as they were embarasssed in that series. Bret Saberhagen would get the nod for Dick Howser and Dan Petry for the Tigers.

The Royals get 2 in the 4th on a White 2 run homer. Saberhagen is tossing a gem by keeping the Tigers off balance by mixxing his pitches and painting the corners. The Royals would get 2 more in the 7th Sundberg and Biancalana are walked by Petry, Wilson singles and that score Sundberg and Bianclana moves up to 3rd. Sheridan then hits into a 5-4 FC and Biancalana comes in to score to make it 4-0.

The Tigers can't crack Saberhagen as he coasts to the shutout. The Tigers offense has yet to break out this season. Their pitching is what has gotten them off to a solid start.

The Final Score 4-0 Royals
