April 20, 1985 Game 119: Mariners (5-5) at Angels (6-4)

The Mariners would send a struggling Mark Langston to the hill and the Angels would send Mike Witt. Langston would continue to struggle with his command as he would walk 7 in 7 IP. Witt didn't fare much better as he would give up 12 hits in 9 IP.

The Angels would take advantage of Langston's wildness. Pettis singles, Hendrick singles and Downing singles and that scores Pettis scores. DeCinces hit a SACFLY to right and Hendrick scores to make it 2-0. The Mariners tie it up in the 3rd as Presley homers to make it 2-1. Owen gets on after a Boone error, Perconte singles and Owen holds at 2nd. Bradley singles and Owens scores and the game is tied.

The Mariners take the lead in the 4th on a Presley 2 run homer to give them a 4-2 lead. The Angels tie it up in the 5th as Langston issues a leadoff walk to Grich, Cowens commits 2BE and Grich holds at 3rd and Howell is on 2nd. Schofield walks to load the bases. Pettis hits into a 6-4-3 double play and Grich scores. Hendrick follows with a single and that scores Howell to make it 4-4.

The Angels are unable to take advantage of Langstons walks and he leaves after the 7th with the game tied. In the 8th the Angels hit Frank Willis hard and take the lead. Boone is walked, Beniquez singles, Grich singles to load the bases. Howell walks and Boone scores. Schofield walks and Beniquez scores. Pettis rips a single, Howell and Schofield score to give the Angels an 8-4 lead.

Witt pitches the 9th and gets the CG victory. He was just as wild as Langston today, giving up 12 hits and walking 2 but the Mariners were unable to take advantage.
