April 21, 1985 Game 136 : Royals (6-4) at Tigers (5-4)

The Tigers have lost 2 in a row to the Royals and look to Frank Tanana to halt the streak. Danny Jackson will take on the struggling Tiger offense. Sparky Anderson would shake the lineup up a bit in hopes of getting his team going.

The Royals appeared to be on the their way to rout as they would hit Tanana hard in the 1st and get 2 runs. Wilson singles and steals 2nd. Sheridan doubles and Wilson scores. Motley smacks a 2-out single and Sheridan Scores and its 2-0 Royals. But the crafty lefthander would settle down.

In the 4th The Tigers get on the board due to Parrish solo Home Run and its 2-1 Royals. In the 5th the Tigers would take the lead. Brooknes draws a walk, Trammell doubles and it is 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. Parrish hits a 1-out single and Brookens and Trammell score and the Tigers take the lead 3-2.

The Tigers would add an insurance run in the 8th. Herndon doubles and would score on a Lemon single to make it 4-2. Willie Hernandez pitches the 9th and strikes out 3 of the 4 batters he faces for his 3rd save.

Frank Tanaa was the big story of the day. Making his 1st start of the season he would give up 7 hits and 2 runs while walking no one and Striking out 10. The Royals could not seem to figure out what Tanana would throw next. He would at one point strikeout 6 in row. Tanana stated in a post game interview that he was "just throwing junk."

Jorge Orta struck out 3 times against Tanana said, "the slower he threw the harder he was to hit."

Lance Parrish lead the offense by going 3-4 with a HR and 3 RBI.
