April 25, 1985 Game 184: Braves (5-9) at Astros (5-10)

Another battle of bottom feeders.  The Braves send Len Barker to the mound to face Joe Niekro who has struggled mightily in the early part of this season.

The Astros get 1 in the 2nd when Cruz singles and steals 2nd, Mumphrey singles and that scores Cruz and the Astros have a 1-0 lead.  The Braves tie it up in the 3rd when Washington hits a Niekro fastball into the seats for a solo home-run.

The Braves add to their lead as they chase Niekro from the game in the 4th.  Murphy starts the scoring as he rips a 2 run homer.  Horner triples, Oberkfell hits a 1-out single scoring Horner. Benedict singles,  Barker hits a slow roller to Doran who boots it anyway and is charged an error. Ramirez laces a 2-out single scoring Oberkfell,  Komminsk is walked forcing home Ramirez and the Braves lead it 6-1.

The Braves get 2 more in the 6th when Washington singles, Ramirez and Komminsk are walked.  Horner hits a SACFLY to center and Washington scores, Chambliss doubles scoring Ramirez and the Braves now lead 8-2.  The Astros get 1 in the bottom half of the inning.  Davis singles, Walling gets on due to an error on Barker.  Cruz bounces into a 64 FC putting runners at the corners.  Mumphrey hits a SACFLY to center and Davis scores to make it 8-2.

Barker get the complete game to improve to 2-1.
