April 26, 1985 Game 194: Royals (6-8) at Red Sox (8-7)

Beautiful day at Fenway Park today and 26,647 Red Sox fans watched Roger Clemens hurl a gem.   Clemens would scatter 3 hits and walk 1 while striking out 6.  Clemens induced 15 ground-outs and only 6 balls would make it out of the infield including the hits.  He was a dominant force today.   Mark Gubicza was impressive as well. He would scatter 7 hits over 8 Innings while walking 2 and striking out 8. His only mistake would come in the 2nd.

Gubicza is facing Armas to start off the inning and tries to put him away with an 0-2 Fastball and Armas crushes it over the Monster for a solo shot and gives the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  Gubicza strikes out Buckner and Gedman and gets Barrett to popout to Pryor to end the inning.

Neither team comes even close to scoring a run after that and Clemens cruises to his 3rd victory of the season and the Red Sox have won 2 in a row.  The Royals continue to struggle without All-Star third baseman George Brett who is still out with an ankle injury.

The Final Score 1-0 Red Sox
