April 26, 1985 Game 198: Tigers (7-7) at Brewers (8-6)

What a game at County Stadium today.  These two inconsistent teams put on quite a defensive show show for the fans.  Jack Morris was throwing darts today and scattered 3 hits through 9 innings of work.  Ray Burris matched him but was overmatching Tiger batters with a constant mix of fastballs and off speed pitches and was able to strike out 10 in 9.1 innings.

In the 6th Robin Yount takes a Morris forkball and puts it in the centerfield bleachers for a 2-0 Brewers lead.  The Tigers roar back in the 8th.  Flynn singles, Whitaker bounces out to Gantner and Flynn is safe at 2nd, Trammell hits one in the rightfield gap and it hits off Oglivies glove and rolls to the wall for a 2BE and Flynn scores.  Gibson then rips a single scoring Trammell and it is now tied up at 2.

In the 11th with Cocanower pitching, Evans and Sanchez walk, Parrish hits a 1-out single to load the bases.  Flynn then hits a slow roller to the right of the mound and Cocanowers only play is at 1st allowing Evans to score.  Whitaker singles scoring Sanchez and the Tigers lead it 4-2.  Willie Hernandez comes and sets down the Brewers in order and earns his 4th save.

The Final Score 4-2 Tigers
