April 26, 1985 Game 199: Pirates (8-7) at Mets (8-7)

The Mets are pitching great this season and Davey Johnson is waiting for the offense to come around.  The Pirates are starting to come back down to earth after a fast 2 weeks.

Jose DeLeon of the Pirates and Ron Darling of the Mets were locked in a pitchers dual.  Both looked sharp and were aided by the doubleplay.  The Pirates would turn 2 and the Mets turned 3.

The Pirtaes open the scoring in the 3rd when Orsulak singles and Ray draws a walk.  Kemp then singles and Orsulak races home for a 1-0 Pirate lead.  That is where the score would stay until the 7th.  Strawberry ties the game with a solo homer.  Santana singles with 2-outs,  Darling singles and Backman singles to score Santana and the Mets have a 2-1 lead.  Jesse Orosco sets down the PIrates in order in the 9th for his 3rd save.

The Final Score 2-1 Mets
