April 26, 1985 Game 202: Angels (11-6) at Mariners (7-9)

Urbano Lugo is going for his league leading 6th win for the Angels and Jim Beattie is getting a spot start for the Mariners.  This one would go down to the wire as the Angels would blow a 4 run lead late in the game.

The Angels jump out to a quick lead in the 1st when Jackson takes Beattie deep for a 2-out 2 run homer and the Angels are up 2-0.  In the 2nd they will add 2 more on a Narron 2 run homer to make it 4-0.

The Mariners get on the board in the 5th.  Owen singles,  Bradley draws a 1-out walk, Davis singles and Owen scores and it is now 4-1.  The Angles would get that run back in the 6th.  Narron and Grich single, Pettis walks to load the bases.  Carew hits a SACFLY to center and Narron scores to make it 5-1.  The Mariners wont go away and they grab that run back, Cowens and Presley hit back to back doubles to make it 5-2.

In the 7th the Angels make it 6-2 when Downing takes a Willis fastball and crushes it over the leftfield wall for a solo homer.  The Mariners simply won't go away and they make their move in the bottom of the 7th. Bradley hits a solo homerun and sends Lugo to the showers.  Davis is safe at 1st on a Schofield error, Henderson walks with 1-out.  Cowens doubles scoring Davis, Kearney rips a 2-out double scoring Henderson and Cowens.  Owen singles scoring Kearney and the Mariners have 7-6 lead.

In the 8th the 1st place Angels make their comeback.  Pettis walks and steals 2nd.  Carew singles and Pettis scores.  Jones is safe at 1st on a Presley error, Jackson is walked to load the bases.  DeCinces hits a deep fly to center scoring Carew and the Angels now lead 8-7.  Moore gives up a single in the 9th, but secures his 5th save and the Angels win.
