April 27, 1985 Game 215: Angels (11-6) at Mariners (7-10)

The Mariners are taking on the first place Angels today at the Kingdome today.  The Mariners sent Matt Young to the mound and he looked more like my paperboy.  But Young wasn't the only one to resemble the young Marvin Higgins as Mariner pitchers would give up 16 hits and walk 9.  Jim Slaton gets the nod from Gene Mauch and he brought his a game.

In the 1st the Angels get on the board when Downing crushes a Young fastball for a 3 run homer and the Angels are up 3-0.  The Angels get 4 more in the 3rd.  DeCinces hits a 1-out 2 run homer.  Beniquez singles, Jones singles, Schofield walks to load the bases.  Boone singles scoring Beniquez and Jones and the Angels are up 7-0.

In the 3rd the Mariners scratch out a run.  Scott hits a 1-out single, Ramos doubles and Reynolds bounces into a 4-3 FC scoring Scott to make it 7-1.  In the 4th the Angels get that run back. Downing gets on due to an error on Reynolds, Grich walks,  Jones singles with 2-outs to load the bases. Schofield walks scoring Downing to make it 8-1.

In the 8th Schofield hits a 1-out 3 run homer to make it 11-1.  In the 9th The Mariners get their second run of the game on a Davis lead off homer to make it 11-2
