April 28, 1985 Game 226: A's (8-10) at Twins (9-9)

The Twins take on the A's at the Metrodome today and need the win to secure 2nd place in the West.  Billy Gardner sends Mike Smithson to the mound and the A's counter with Tim Birtsas.

The Twins get on the board in the 1st, Puckett hits one to Birtsas and Birtsas throws it away and Puckett heads to 2nd.  Hatcher singles and Puckett scores to make it 1-0.  The A's take the lead in the 3rd.  Griffin walks, Lansford singles,  Kingman hits a 1-out single scoring Griffen,  Baker singles with 2-outs scoring Lansford,  Davis then singles scoring Kingman,  Tettleton continues the scoring as he singles home Baker and the A's are up 4-1.

The A's get 4 more in the 5th.  Kingman singles, Murphy singles, Davis doubles with 1-out scores Kingman.  Tettleton singles and Murphy scores.  Hill singles scoring Davis, Griffin singles and Tettleton scores making it 8-1.  In the 9th Gaetti hits a 2-out 3 run homer to make it 8-4 A's.
