April 30, 1985 Game 237: Giants (9-9) at Cubs (9-8)

It is a warm day at Wrigley today with a slight wind blowing in from rightfield.  The Cubs send Steve Trout out to face a lack luster Giants offense and the Giants counter with the aging Vida Blue.

The Giant bats came to life right away in this one as they would put 3 runs in the 1st and it would look like they would knock Trout out early.  Gladden singles and steals 2nd. Leonard singles and Gladden scores.  Davis doubles and Leonard stops at 3rd.  Brenly then laces a 2-out single that would score Leonard and Davis and the Giants are up 3-0.

The Cubs get one of those runs back in the 5th on Ron Ceys 2nd homer of the season and it is 3-1 Giants. The Cubs would tie it up in the 6th.  Sandberg singles, Durham singles with 1-out, Moreland singles and Sandberg scores, Davis hit a SAC FLY to center and Durham score to make it 3-3.

The Giants take control in the 8th.  Davis singles with 1-out, Green singles, Brenly singles and Davis scores, Brown singles and that loads the bases. Uribe doubles and that scores Green and Brenly,  Blue then bounves into a 6-3 FC and Brown scores to make 7-3

The Final Score 7-3 Giants
