April 30, 1985 Game 238: Red Sox (11-8) at Angels (14-6)

The Red Sox take on the Angels at Fenway Park today.  John McNamara sends Roger Clemens to the hill to square off and the Mike Witt and the 1st place Angels.

In the 1st the Red Sox get 2 off of Witt.  Boggs walks, Evans singles, Easler advances to 2nd on a 2BE on Pettis that scores Boggs and Evans and the Red Sox are up 2-0.  The Re Sox add 2 more in the 2nd  When Gutierrez hits a 1-out 2 run homer his 3rd of the year and the Red Sox lead it 4-0.

In the 8th Rice hits his 11th home run of the year and the Red Sox have a 5-0 lead.  Clemens pitches the 9th to close out the game to earn the shutout. Gutierrez finishes the game 3-4 with a HR and 2 RBI.  Clemes is the man of the hour as he goes the distance giving up 4 hits and striking out 8.
