April 30, 1985 Game 242: Indians (9-10) at Royals (6-12)

The Royals have lost 8 in a row and have been plague with injuries in the first month of the season.  George Brett returns to the lineup today and hopes to help stop the losing streak.  The Royals send the left arm of Bud Black out to face Don Schulze and the Indians.

In the 1st Jones doubles, Brett singles,  Orta then singles and a throwing error is also charged to Bernazard on the play and Jones and Brett score to make it 2-0.  The Indians tie it up in the 4th.  Tabler hits his 2nd home run of the season.  Vuckovich triples and hargrove singles him home and it is now a 2-2 game.

In the 5th the Royals take the lead.  Wilson singles and steals 2nd, Jones lays down a good bunt and is thrown put at 1st and Wilson advances to 3rd.  Brett then doubles him home to make it 3-2 Royals.

Brett is the hero of this one as he would go 3-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Quisenberry closes the game and earns his 2nd save.
