May 1, 1985 Game 254: Astros (7-13) at Mets (10-8)

This was to be a special game at Shea today.  The 17, 973 fans would be in for a real treat.  It was a pitchers dual and neither pitcher was willing to back down.  Ron Darling would face off against Nolan Ryan.

Each pitcher was matching the other pitch for pitch and hits came at a premium.  Through the first 7 innings each team only had 3 hits and the pitchers each had 1.  Darling would walk a few to many and would be taken out after the th and replace by Roger McDowell.

In the 10th with 2 outs Foster becomes the hero when he hits a Ryan fastball for his 5th home run of the season and the Mets win 1-0..

The Final Score 1-0 Mets
