May 2, 1985 Game 264: Red Sox (12-9) at Mariners (8-14)

It's a beautiful day in Seattle today.  To bad were in the Kingdome and we will see the Red Sox play the Mariners.  Bob Ojeda will make his 1st start of the season and Matt Young will start for the Mariners.

The Red Sox look to bounce back after a brutal defeat yesterday at the hands of Mike Moore.  Who by the way is the only pitcher worth a darn on the team.  Young and Langston have been horrible.  These two pitchers would make a go of it as we were scoreless through 5 and then the Red Sox get it going.

In the 6th with Evans on 2nd due to a single and an error on Ramos, Rice comes through with a single to score Evans and it is 1-0.  Then Armas single and Easler walks to load the bases.  Buckner smacks a single to right and that will score Rice.  Armas looked like he wanted to test Cowens's arm but then thought again as Cowens has a rifle for an arm and it is now 2-0 Red Sox.  In the bottom of the 6th the Mariners bounce back with a couple runs of their own. Thomas walks with 1 out, Cowens then singles.  Then Hendeson doubles scoring Thomas to make it 2-1.  Presley then follows with a deep SACFLY to left and that scores Cowens and we are now tied at 2.

The game would remain deadlocked at 2 until the 10th.  With 1-out Easler hits a 3 run homer to make it 5-2. Bob Stanley comes in and shuts down the Mariners and earns the save.

The Final Score 5-2 Red Sox
