May 4, 1985 Game 279: Expos (10-12) at Braves (8-13)

Rick Mahler was the man today and Eddie Haas was able to give the bullpen a much needed day off.  Mahler would scatter 3 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings of work.  Bryn Smith of the Expos was hit hard right off the bat and again couldn't sustain any momentum and the Braves would take advantage.

In the 1st Komminsk walks and Ramirez doubles, Murphy is safe at 3rd on Dawson's 3BE and that would score both runners.  Horner hits a slow roller to Brooks and his only play is to 1st and Murphy scores to gmive the Braves a 3-0 lead.

The Expos get their only run in the 4th when Law draws a walk, Wallach singles, Law would score on Thompsons single and it is now a 3-1 Braves lead.  The Braves add to their lead in the 5th, with runners on 1st and 2nd Ramirez doubles scoring one of them and it is now 4-1.  Horner add anothe with a solo shot in the 6th and the Braves are now up 5-1.  Smith would finish the iining but would not return.  ST. Claire came in and pitched 2 hitless innings.

The Final Score 5-1 Braves
