May 4, 1985 Game 287: Dodgers (12-11) at Pirates (9-11)

The Pirates took on the Dodgers at Three Rivers today and it looked like it would be a blow out from the start.  The Dodgers were sending their ace Fernando Valenzuela to the toe the rubber and the Pirates counter with Lee Tunnell who is not their best pitcher.  Tunnell would shock the Pirate fans as he pitched well before he ran out of gas in the 6th, While Valenzuela was his usual self.

In the 3rd the Pirates get on the when Ray cracks a 2-out double that scores Wynne and gives the Pirates a 1-0 lead.  In the 6th the Dodgers take the lead, Valenzuela singles and scores on Sax's triple.  Madlock then hits a 2-out double to score Sax and the Dodgers take the lead 2-1.

The lead wouldn't last long as the Pirates tie up in the bottom of the 6th.  They have the bases loaded and Valenzuela walks Reynolds to force home a run and it's now 2-2.  In the 7th Tunnell runs into some trouble and leaves the game with the bases load.  Sax then delivers a SACFLY to right scoring Scioscia and it is now 3-2 DOdgers.

The Dodgers add a couple more in the 8th.  Madlock homers and with runners on 2nd and 3rd Cabell hits a SACFLY to center scoring Marshall and that makes it 5-2 Dodgers.

The Final Score 5-2 Dodgers
