May 4, 1985 Game 288: Red Sox (14-9) at A's (10-14)

I had a feeling that this one was going to a laugher and I was right.  The A's were sending Bill Krueger to hill and the Red Sox were sending Bruce Hurst. Krueger has been aweful as of late and Hurst to trying to fing his groove.  It would like like he had found it as he would toss a 2 hit shutout and one of those hits came in the 9th.  Krueger was battered all over the park as he would surrender 6 hits and 6 walks in 1.1 innings.  Steve McCattt and Keith Atherton would shutdown the Red Sox for the next 7.2 innings. But the Damage had been done.

In the 2nd Buckner would hit a 3 run homer.  Evans would single with the bases loaded scoring Gedman, Rice would draw a bases loaded walk to score Hoffman.  Armas then delivers a bases loaded double scoring Boggs and Evans to make it a 7-0 game.

That is where this one would stay as Hurst and the A's bullpen would shutdown the offenses.  Hurst said after the game that "It felt really good to finally pitch well."  Jackie Moore was flabbergasted at the end of the game.  "We have to get good starts from the rotation, we will go nowhere without that.  I don't think it would have mattered today though.  We couldn't hit the broadside of a barn."

The Final Score 7-0 Red Sox
