May 5, 1985 Game 302: Giants (9-13) at Cardinals (15-9)

What a game at Busch Stadium today.  Kurt Kephire and Jim Gott put on a show today and you could see that both offenses were frustrated.  Gott would surrender only 3 hits through 7 and Kepshire would give up only 5 base hits in 8 innings of work.

Both pitchers were able to keep the hitters guessing and would tally 9 k's between them.  There was no visible chink in their armor.  They would both be lifted in the late innings for pinch hitters and the relievers would pick up where the starter left off.  There were no real good scoring opportunities.  The Cardinals would threaten in the 6th but a great throw from Roenicke would cut down McGee at the plate.

The only scoring would happen in the 12th.  Pinch hitter DeJesus would draw a bases loaded walk from Vida Blue and the would force Clark home and give the Cardinals the victory

The Final Score 1-0 Cardinals
