May 6, 1985 Game 305: Giants (9-14) at Pirates (9-13)

The Giants and the Pirates are struggling the last week and have taken a dive in the standings.  They both hope to correct that problem this series.  The Pirates problem is on the pitching side of the house and the Giants problem is the hitting side. The Pirates send Rick Reuschel out to the mound and he has been the Ace of the staff.  The Giants counter with Vida Blue and he has been a little inconsistent.

In the 3rd the Giants take the lead, with runners on on 2nd and 3rd; Leonard singles scoring Uribe to make it 1-0.  The Giants really need Leonard to drive this offense.  In the 5th the Pirates strike back; with 2-outs Orsulak singles and Ray doubles, Brown hits a sharp grounder to Wellman and it skips off the his glove and both runners score and Brown is at 2nd.  Wellman is charged with a 2BE.  The Pirates lead it 2-1.

Reuschel goes the distance to pick up the win and Johnny Ray hits a single in the 1st to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.  That is the longest of the season.

The Final Score 2-1 Pirates
