MAy 7, 1985 Game 307: Angels (15-11) at Red Sox (16-9)

The Red Sox are rolling as of late, they are 8-2 in their last 10 games and have won 4 in a row.  The Angels seem to have hit a road block as they have lost 5 of 6.  Today the Red Sox send Tim Lollar to the hill and the Angles send Jim Slaton.  This game would be a disaster for both teams. There were 17 runs scored, 27 hits, 12 walks, and 6 errors.

The Red Sox take the lead in the 1st on Evans 5th homerun of the season and the Red Sox lead it 1-0.  They would make it 2-0 on Gedman's 4th homer of the season.  The Angels tie it up in the 3rd.  Jackson comesup with a huge base hit with the bases loaded and 2-out, he rips a single that score Boone.  Grich is then issued a bases loaded walk to tie up the game.

In the 4th the Red Sox regain the lead Schofield commits an error on Barrett's grounder with the bases loaded, allowing Easler to score.  Gutierrez hits into a 5-5-4 double play scoring Buckner and the Red Sox lead it 4-2.  In the 5th Red Sox tack on a couple more.  Easler triples, Buckner doubles scoring Easler.  Gutierrez then doubles scoring Buckner and it is now the Red Sox 6 Angles 2.

In the 6th the Red Sox add another, with runners on 1st and 2nd, Gedman singles scoring Rice and it is now a 7-2 Red Sox lead.  The Angles come charging right back in the 7th.  Gerber with the bases loaded bounces into a 3-6 FC and Hendrick scores.  Schofield then doubles scoring Grich and Gerber and it now a 7-5 game.  Lyons gets 2 of those runs back for the Red Sox with a 2 run shot; his 1st of the season and it is now 9-5.  The Red Sox make it 10-5 in the bottom of the 8th, with runners on 1st and 3rd, Gedman bounces into a 1-6-3 double play and Easler scores.  The Angels get 2 more in the bottom of the 8th and ends Crawford's bid for a save.  Gerber's double scores Downing, Boone singles scoring Gerber.  Then Bob Stanley comes in and shuts the door for his 8th save.
