May 7, 1985 Game 313: Mariners (9-17) at Brewers (15-9)

The Brewers continue to play above expecations and there are none for the Mariners.  Today Ray Burris get the start for the Brew Crew and Matt young getthe start for the Mariners.  Burris looked a lot like Steve Blass in this one, in his previous 4 starts Burris only walked 6 batters.  Today he walked 8 and the Mariners were able to take advantage.  Young would put out his best start of the season, but would it be enough?

In the 1st with runners on 1st and 2nd Householder singles scoring Yount, Oglivie would also single scoring Cooper and it is 2-0 Brewers.  In the 2nd Perconte draws a 2-out bases loaded walk and it is now a 2-1 Brewers lead.  In the 5th the Brewers take a 3-2 lead when the speedy Gorman Thomas hits a triple and that would score Davis Thomas would then score on a Cowens single.  In the 8th though the Brewers break the tie. Simmons leads off with a sharp grounder to short and Owen throws it away and Simmons advances to 3rd.  Moore follows with a double scoring Simmons.  Householder is on due to a Scott error and Oglivie hits a deep SACFLY to right scoring Moor and the Brewers lead it 4-3.  Fingers works the 9th for his 8th save.

The Final Score 4-3 Brewers
