May 7, 1985 Game 316: Giants (9-15) at Pirates (10-13)

The Pirates take on the Giants today at the ballpark and fans would see Johnny Ray extend his hitting streak to 17 games and would also see Jose DeLeon throw a gem.  Dave LaPoint was solid in his start for the Giants.  Jim Davenport would shake up his lineup today in hopes of getting the offense going but DeLeon had different plans.

In the 1st Pena draws a bases loaded walk that forces Wynne home.  Morrison then raps a single scoring Thompson and Brown and the Pirates are up 3-0.

In the 5th Orsulak is on 2nd due to a 2BE on Youngblood.  Ray then singles scoring Orsulak and extending his hitting streak to a Major League Leading 17 games and it is now 5-0 Pirates.  Deleon in blowing through the Giants offense and they cannot get anything going.  He would get the CG shutout while scattering 4 hits and striking out 10.
