May 9, 1985 Game 334: Pirates (11-14) at Padres (15-11)

The Padres take on the Pirates today and they want to stay on top of the West, but the Pirates are trying to play the spoilers this season and they are playing good ball.

The Pirates take the early lead in the 2nd on Wynne's 1-out 2 run homer and at the end of 2 its 2-0 Pirates.  The Padres make it a 2-1 game on Nettles solo homer.  

In the 5th Pirates add to their lead.  Reynolds hits a bases loaded single scoring Morrison and Brown.  Bream then singles scoring Pena to give the Pirates a 5-1 lead.  In the 6th Ray will scores on a passed ball,  Brown then triples scoring Morrison and it is now 7-1 Pirates.

Nettles hits a 2 run homer in the 6th to make it 7-3.  Rhoden is safe at 2nd on a 2BE charged to Gwynn allowing Bream to score and the Pirates lead it 8-3.
