May 10, 1985 Game 340: Tigers (14-10) at White Sox (12-11)

White Sox fans were in for a treat today as the White Sox host the Tigers today and the 28,241 fans stayed for a chance to see history from an unlikely player.  The Sox start Britt Burns and he will face Todd Crane who is making his 3rd start of the season after starting the year at AAA.

The Tigers take the lead in the 2nd on Evans' 10th homer of the season and the Tigers lead it 1-0.  They would add another run in the 5th on Lemon's 3rd homer of the year.  The Tigers give Crane a 4-0 lead when Herndon and Sanchez hit back to back homers. Crane makes it into the 7th with a no hitter on the line and gets through the inning 1-2-3.

He cruises through the 8th as well and only needs 3 outs for the no-hitter.  Law leads off the 9th and Crane has 1-2 count and throws a fastball down in the zone and it is smacked into center for a base hit and the no-hitter is broken up.  Crane gets the next hitter to popout and then he gets Baines to bounce into a 6-4-3 double play for the 3rd time today and the game is over.  Crane induced 4 double plays 3 on the bat of Baines.  On another note Darryl Evans has homered in everyone of Crane's starts this season.

The Final Score 4-0 Tigers
