May 15, 1985 Game 395: Mariners (12-20) at Red Sox (20-11)

The Red Sox take on the Mariners at Fenway today. It was Bob Ojeda taking on Bill Swift.  Swift will be looking for his 1st win of the season.

The Mariners scratch a run across in the 1st.  They have runners on 1st & 3rd when Cowens bounces into a 5-4-3 double play and that scores Perconte and the Mariners have a 1-0 lead.  The Red Sox tie it up in the the 2nd when Gutierrez hits a SACFLY to left scoring Armas.

The Red Sox take the lead in the 3rd.  Boggs doubles and will score on Evans's single.  Buckner doubles putting runners and 2nd & 3rd.  Easler singles scoring Evans and Buckner is thrown out at the plate by Henderson and the Red Sox have a 3-1 lead.

The Mariners score 1 in the 4th.  With Runners on 1st & 3rd Davis hits into a 4-3 FC and Cowens scores to make it 3-2.  The Mariners take a 4-3 lead in the 5th.  They have runners on 1st & 2nd, Cowens singles scoring Owen.  Thomas follows with a single and Bradley comes around to score.

In the 6th the Mariners add to their lead.  Henderson triples and comes around to score on Scott's groundout to 3rd.  It is now 5-3 Mariners.  They will make it 6-3 in the 7th.  Cowens delivers a SACFLY to left and would score Perconte.  The Red Sox try and mount a comeback in the 8th, when Armas hits a solo homer to make it 6-4.  In the 9th they make it 6-5.  Rice singles with runners on the corners to score Sullivan and the rally ends.
