May 15, 1985 Game 399: Royals (16-14) at Indians (12-19)

The Indians take on the Royals today at Municipal Stadium and they will send Don Schulze to the hill and he has been a pleasant surprise.  THe Royals counter with Mark Gubicza and he has been their best pitcher despite the lack of run support.

The Royals get on the board in the 2nd when with the bases loaded Concepcion smokes one down the first
base line and Tabler dove to his right and sags it and his only play is at 1st and Motley score to make it 1-0.  It would have scores more if not for the great play by Tabler.

This game turned in a pitchers dual but the Indians could not get Gubicza to bend.  Through 8 innings he had only surrendered 4 hits and walked 1.  The Royals get an insurance run in the top of the 9th.  Brett is on 3rd and motley doubles to give the Royals a 2-0 lead.  Gubicza get the Indians 1-2-3 in the 9th and he picks up the complete game shutout.

The Final Score 2-0 Royals
