40,594 fans watched an exciting game at TIGER STADIUM. The streaking Detroit Tigers topped the Seattle Mariners by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3. 

The game started off with Detroit taking the lead in the first when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. Seattle tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. 

Dan Petry(7-4) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Willie Hernandez preserved the game for Petry, recording his his 12th save. Frank Wills(0-4) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 10 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings. 

No one has been able to stop Detroit lately as they lengthened their winning streak to 7 games.
