June 5, 1985: Astros (21-30) at Cardinals (29-21)

The Houston Astros nipped the St. Louis Cardinals 3 to 2 at BUSCH STADIUM in a hard fought contest. 

The deciding run was scored by Houston in the 9th. Phil Garner doubled. Alan Ashby was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Jim Pankovits followed, but he was set down on strikes. Bill Doran came up and he banged out a single. Craig Reynolds came up to bat and doubled. Both teams totaled 7 hits on the night. 

Bob Knepper(7-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 2 runs. Dave Smith earned the save, his 9th. Bill Campbell(0-2) suffered the loss in relief.
